Carbon fiber fabrics can be grouped in two ways. We can categorize according to tissue density and their types. There are classic crocheted (e.g. 1K, 3K, 12K) fabrics, and there are unidirectional, i.e. non-crocheted UD (unidirectional) fabrics.
The other grouping point is that a carbon fiber fabric has a high modulus, is strong, or is capable of high resistance. The former are very stiff and light, the latter are extremely resistant and more flexible. You cannot build a frame that is light, rigid and suitable for racing at a serious level without the dominant use of the former! However, without the latter, frame production does not exist.
Wilier works with Mitsubishi carbon and its own developed premium fabrics, and it uses fabrics jointly dreamed up with several manufacturers.

The Wilier Filante SLR ID2 is a super-fast aero road bike featuring a disc-brake-equipped, carbon monocoque frame made from a blend of TorayCa T800, T1100, and M46JB fibers, complete with a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) interface. This specific Toray carbon mix ensures the ideal balance of stiffness and low weight while also providing a comfortable ride. Weighing in at just 860 grams (size M), the Filante SLR ID2 frame ranks among the lightest disc-brake aero road bike frames in the world.
